(Sackville) - In the first game of the ESHL quarter finals it was the Sackville Bud Light Combines striking first with the 7-5 win. The 'bines open the scoring just 2 minutes in the game as Brad Steeves of the 'bines blasted an one-timer from Nathan Phinney for the early 1-0 lead. The Shediac Capitals were quick to respond as Ryan Card of the capitals squeezed the puck through bines goalie Mike Charlton to tie things up. The Combines moved back in the lead as Matt Bowes of the 'bines finished a nice pass from Joel Stronge and Brad Steeves to regain the lead. Once again it was the Capitals respondin quickly as Capital's captain Remi Leger banked a shot of the 'bines defensemen to notch things at two. The 'bines line of Nick Laplante , Marshall MacDonald and Matt Bowes would strike two more times as Nick Laplante picked up his first of three on the night and Marshall MacDonald picked up his first of two for the night to head to the second 4-2. The second period had the Capitals taking advantage of some costly penalities from the 'bines as they managed to find the back of the net twice with Travis Duguay and Darryl Cormier with the singles. Scoring for the 'bines was Nick Laplante with his second of the night. The 'bines would find the back of the net two more times in the third to Shediac's lone goal to take an 7-5 lead late in the third. Scoring for the 'bines was Nick Laplante with his hat trick goal and Marshall MacDonald with his second. Scoring for the Capitals was Nick Losier. The Capitals pulled there goalie late in the third but the 'bines held off the attack to open the series with a win at home 7-5. Taking the win in nets was 'bines goalie Mike Charlton, suffering the loss was Michel Cormier. The two fights in the game had Guislain LeBlanc drop the gloves with Tommy Wheaton of the 'bines and Donald Cormier of the Capitals fighting Nathan Phinney of the 'bines. Game two is schedule for Saturday night back in Shediac with the puck dropping at 9pm.
