(Sackville) - The Sackville "Bud Lite" Combines will open up their post season play @ the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre Friday, February 19th @ 8:30 p.m. vs. the Shediac Capitals in a best of 5 series. The 2 teams split their season series, with 3 wins each, with 2 games going to overtime or shootout.
The Combines look forward to having their full line-up for the first time since the start of the second half of the season. They've lost several key players due to work commitments (out of town) & injuries. In particular the Combines will be welcoming back spirited forward Nathan Phinney, who has been sidelined for several weeks with a leg injury. "Nathan brings both a presence on the ice and an energy to the room when he's in the line-up" says coach Ernie Austin. "We look for him to be a real difference maker for us in the playoffs". Coach Austin also noted that the team will need team captains Malcolm Estabrooks, Marshall Mcdonald and Joel Stronge to "lead the way, as only they can" if the team is going to enjoy a lengthy playoff run.
Game 2 will take place in Shediac Saturday night 9:00 p.m., with game 3 back in Sackville Wednesday night February 24th @ 8:30p.m. Games 4 (February 26th, in Shediac) & Game 5 (T.B.D. in Sackville) will only be played, if necessary. The winner of the series, will move on to face the 1st place Richibucto Rum Runners in the next round.
