(Sackville) - In ESHL action last night at the Tantramar Civic Center it was the Richibucto Rum Runners skating away with a hard fought 7-3 battle. It was the Sackville Bud Light Combines who jumped out to an early lead as Matt Biron, and Nick Laplante of the 'bines both found the back of the net for the 2-1 lead after one. Replying for the Rum Runners was Mark Ripley. The first had one fight as Combines Nick Laplante had taken exception to a questionalbe hit by Rum Runners Andy Joesph on 'bines captain Malcolm Estabrooks. The second period had the Rum Runners starting quickly and taken advantage of some costly Combine penalties to find the back of the net 3 times for the 4-2 lead after two. Scoring for the Rum Runners was Jason Rinzler, Etienne Robichaud, and Mark Fumore. The third period had both teams continue to trade great scoring chances with 'bines goalie Mike Charlton and Rum Runners Pierre Luc Theriault making key saves for both teams throughout the game. The 'bines managed to get back in the game with a nice passing play from Nick Laplante to Marshall MacDonald to bring the game back to 4-3. But the Rum Runners sealed the win with a couple of late goals in the game to come away with the 7-4 win. The Combines look to rebound as they face off against Memramcook at home on a rare Sunday game with the puck dropping at 5:15pm.
Game Notes: The Combines donated the proceed's of there 50/50 ticket winnings to Hockey Moms Against Cancer along with the winner of the draw for a total donation of $284.00.
