'Bines Fall to Air Repair

(Memramcook) - In ESHL action sunday night it was the Air Repair returning the favor and coming away with the home win 6-3. The Combines opened the scoring as Combine Bryan MacLean finished off a nice passing play from Matt Biron to gain the early 1-0 lead. Memramcook would respond quickly as Stephan Dion replied for the Air Repair just 2 minutes later to notch things up at 1. The Air Repair Jason Thibodeau managed to find the back of the net on a nice passing play from Luke Betts to gain an early 2-1 lead. It was then the 'bines turn to respond as Derek Rushton finished off a onetime pass from Trever Peterson to tie things up at 2 after the first period. The First period had one fight as once again 'bines Nathan Phinney dropped the gloves with Air Repair Guilliame Saulnier in a very spirited and long fight at center ice. The Air Repair seem to have the upper hand in the second as they managed to score two more times on goals by Jamie McCabe and Jean Yves Cormier to head to the third leading 4-2. The Combines tried mouting the comeback as they scored just 2 minutes into the frame as Nick Laplate walked around the defense and beat Air Repair goalie Marc Gagnon short side to pull back to 4-3. The comeback was short lived as Zack Tessier banked a shot of a Combine defensmen to regain the 2 goal lead. Memramcook added one more late goal by Luke Betts to end the game 6-3. Mike Charton suffered the loss in nets for the 'bines as Marc Gagnon picked up the win. The Combines look to regroup next weekend as they head on the road to Rogersville to battle Richibucto with the puck dropping at 7:30pm on Saturday. The Combines next home game will be Jan 22, at the Tantramar Civic Center.
