Post: to smokehouse. kind of funny i have good sources telling me that it cost more to play in cape-pele than anywhere else in the league and why does cap-pele dont bring in any fans anymore, because of there pay roll.drop the pay role and you will loose guys like malony, brine ect... don't get me rong cape-pele has great players but loose these high rollers and the teams will be more even and you will get tighter games. look at the games bettween rogersville & sackville or memermcook and sackville they where close games last year. when you get teams on the ice that are of close caliber the fans dont mind cause the games are close and everybody is on the edge of there seat to see who is going to win. hell rogersville went to o.t 2 or 3 times during the season againts cap-pele and bouctouche the fans almost went nuts in both rinks tight games will bring back the fans.

Post: no fans at cap-pele games last year?they hardly drew anything at home is right.perfect 12-0 season and 5-0 in the play-offs.most of those 12 wins during regular season the opposition barely showed up,no wonder fans stayed away.different story on the road though.other teams love to have the pecheurs play in their rinks.i can see you didn't grow up any thie summer..we more than paid for the league bills at the end like we usually do.

Post: even the southern hockey league is not immune to valley league problems. some teams might not be operating this year, a couple are looking for new homes. paying players is not all it's cracked up to be. it has never been good for leagues around here. it's only good for the players that get the tax free money. it's a nightmare for the league executives and team executives. most of the time the financial risks is not worth the burden and that's why you have problem finding people to run hockey teams.

Post: read closely, dummy... it is not a balanced schedule. if it was balanced, teams would play every other team the same number of games. and why not 25???? simple - teams play an even number of home games and road games. does 25 in half? not the last time i checked. teams in the past have outright refused to go up from 24 games. they feel 30, 28 or even 26 (notice they are all even numbers!!!!) is too high. the truth is it took a lot of convincing to get all teams to go from 20 to 24 games a few years back.

Post: ...and now for my thoughts -again- on this new math. first of all, the costs are about $2500 more per team. that is impossible for small-market teams, like memramcook or sackville, to afford. you can pack the rink all you want, the money needs to be paid now and that just cannot happen.

Post: 25 games a year? since when do teams play an odd number of games? if there are 6 teams, the schedule will be 24 games each. it's not a balanced schedule. a team will play four of the other five teams 5 times (either 2 home, 3 road or 3 home, 2 road) and one team 4 times (2 home, 2 road).

Post: the last year richibucto had a team the place was not packed. it only had an average attendance. and first of all, the teams would have to put that money up front before knowing if they will generate any more income. the league barely broke even last year so their's no money in the pot for the teams to pick in.

Post: last year 5 teams x 24 games each = 120 --- 120 games / 2 teams per game = 60 games +++ this year 6 teams x 25 games each( 5 games vs each team) = 150 --- 150 games / 2 teams per game = 75 games .... 75-60=15 games extra (including 12 or 13 in richibucto which is usually packed) ... 100 people x 5$ = $500 --- $500 x 15 games = $7500 ... yes to the 2 fight sure

Post: that's 13800$ for a 6 team league. at 5$ a head, you need at least 46 new fans per game for 60 home games. i don't think that is realistic to say that it will bring in that many new fans.

1 fight rule cost. team registration - 800$ minor hockey ticket sales - 400$ insurance cards (40.65$ each) (30) - 1220$ coach registration - (14.00$ each) (3) - 42$ bench insurance - (15.65$) (4) - 62$ insurance cards cost could be more, during a season on average you would probably use 30 cards.
total - 2524$
2 fight rule
team registration - 800$ minor hockey ticket sales - 400$ team insurance (45 cards maximum) - 3535$ coach registration - (14.00$ each) (3) - 42$ bench insurance - (15.65$) (4) - 62$
with the 2 fight rule you get 45 insurance cards no matter if you need them or not and do not get a refund for unused cards.

Post: it's not that great of a league, when you have 1 or 2 teams spending all the money. grand lake has been dominant the past 3 years and no one has been able to touch them in the league. not sure there's much parity there for a league that has a draft and everything. they just buy the good draft picks when they're players they want.

Post: others so parity in league is even more of a pipe dream then it is now.how do you expect the league to survive if you don't have teams funded like cappele and bouctouche, in sackville, we can't afford another 1000.00 unless the league gaureented a profit or break even for the upfront cost. some teams barely make it by year to year, and the league should really start looking at more creative ways to grow and allow all teams to prosper. look at the southern league, they certainly seem to get better each year, we need to pick up our socks or there won't be any socks to pick up....

Post: each home team only plays 12 home games. 12 games x 5 teams = 60 games. 50 people x $5 = $250. $250 x 60 games = $15000. i believe the insurance cost is greater than $1000 per team though. $15000 - $5000 = $10000. sounds good, but i believe the insurance cost, and your estimated attendance increase are pipe dreams.

Post: what was the average attendance last year? i know it was low. i think 200 per game would be a generous assumption. do you really think that one rule change would increase attendate 25% across the board for the entire league? every game? all year? i think that is a bit far fetched.

Post: having the 2 fights rule will help a lot the league. think about it we wont have to wait till the 3rd period to watch fights or to fight. we could see a fight or fight in the 1st or the 2nd and the players will still be able to play the game. a lot of the time we wait for the fights in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd and nothing happens because the game is close or to boring to fight for the players so...
it's time to work together to help the mvhl and lets have the 2 fights rule. paying 1000$/team more for the insurance is nothing. we'll have at least a increase of 50 fans average/game so 50 fans x 24 games x 5$ = 6000$ more wow!!! very simple...
this league as a lot of potential. plus this year with 6 teams again and cap pele hosting the provincial, it's time to make the move now. if we do nothing like the last few years, yes the league will be boring and yes we'll have less and less fans and eventually no more league. is that what we want???
so let apply the 2 fights rule and lets work together to improve the league.
